How I Used Headway to Make jasonwietholter.com

It was really quite simple. The Headway theme is so easy to use and full of features, this site was ready to go live in the first couple of hours.

Step 1

Open up the Headway Configuration and add your Google Analytics code, change your SEO and then input your Twitter info to get posts out there.

Step 2

Next, hit the Headway Design tab and customize to your hearts content. I made a few changes to the Header settings and then headed over to the Typography and Colors sections to make final tweaks. My color scheme was grabbed from Adobe’s Kuler program which I absolutely love!

Step 3

All right, now the Headway Layout Editor. This is where I spent most of my time. It’s kind of hard to explain everything that I did, but the beauty of this theme is that I was able to customize each page and major page template any way I wanted. The About Me page is nothing but content for the entire page. The Contact Me page is actually half page content and the right side is content I typed directly into the layout. I tweaked each page a little differently, and then I customized the Blog Index and Single Post pages with the correct sidebar and ad space.

That’s it. Pretty straightforward. It was fun just to play with the theme and it is so easy to make changes on the fly. The code behind it is so solid I can even test live and get stuff in order.

Take a look around. If you like what you see, make certain to click on the Headway footer link or on one of the sidebar ads. I’ll get an affiliate sale and you’ll get an awesome theme.
